Who Am I?
I'm Nancy Braker and I make glass beads. That about sums it up. :-)
I have been making beads since January 2003. Melting glass was like "finding myself" in some kind of profound way that I can't explain to non-glass folks.
My official artist statement:
I melt glass because I must. It needs me to melt it and create it into little art pieces meant to be worn.
As you can see, I don't take myself too seriously. :-) I am definitely quirky and silly. I am age 40-ish, married now about 20+ years and living on a farm in Central Illinois. I am a CPA, formerly specializing in public pensions for a technology company, and I'm a mom to a great son.
I am currently getting a master's degree in Education, with hopes of teaching elementary education.
